VALENCIA CF: MANCHESTER UNITED THINKS ABOUT DAVID SILVA

Sisakan Lowongan Posisi Gelandang

Lini depan Persibo Bojonegoro bakal semakin tajam.

UNC win shows rising interest in college game

The increased competition in the women's college game has spurred more interest in the sport than ever.
8,349 fans were on hand to watch UNC beat Notre Dame 2-1 at the final match in Cary, N.C., That number bested that of the men's final (mostly because of the limited capacity of the stadium in St. Louis).

W-LEAGUE: Atlanta 4, Carolina 0

Easy win for Atlanta, as Nel Fettig picks young Carolina team apart.

Lawsuit allowed to continue

Common sense tells you that if your view of the playing surface from the seating bowl includes the back of the goal, you may be in danger of being struck by a ball or puck. Or, maybe not. After a Wake County court threw out Teresa Allred's lawsuit against a women's soccer league and the owners and operators of a Cary, N.C., stadium now called SAS Soccer Park, an appeals court ruled in December that the lawsuit could continue.
Allred was sitting behind the goal at an April 2003 Women's United Soccer Association match when she was struck in the head by a practice shot that sailed over the goal and into the stands. Allred's complaint, Allred v. Capital Area Soccer League Inc., filed in April 2006, alleged that she suffered post-concussive syndrome and a neurological disorder as a result of the incident.

Valentino Rossi, Mugello and his Yamaha

Friday, 30 May 2008
Mugello has been a friend for Rossi, he has won 6 consecutive win and never lost there. This circuit seems friendlier to Valentino than Ducati force :) He once said that when he didn't win, his life is not normal, he is very depressed if not winning which is very normal I guess... So no wonder when he won in Shanghai after a drought since September 2007, he was very relief and it seems he found his strength again. I can see from his expression that he has put away the burden.

He came to Mugello with opti! mism and all riders say that he is the one to chase, but the weather is unpredictable, it was heavy rain on Friday (30 May 2008) and all teams suffer in lap time. But, as usual Rossi will find its moment and and will strike to the front row.

His contract is about to expire this year and he said he is 90% sure that he will stay in Yamaha, he said that he likes Yamaha, because its just like a family, everyone is warm and he has a very good relationship with Masao Furusawa (Yamaha's racing boss), they there are some pictures shows it, not like when he was in Honda.
!
The contract will be probably signed after US grand prix! , but I think the result will be the same, he will absolutely in Yamaha for 1 or 2 years, his chief mechanic that he brought from Honda, Jeremy Burgess, and Davide Brivio all by his side. Lin Jarvis is the man of his side too, so there is no reason it will fail.

Weekend Club Rugby Wrap

Maties got their Club Rugby season off to a good start will a 41-33 victory over Villagers. The home team crossed the line 6 times to get the result. When speaking to Maties head coach, Chean Roux he said it was a difficult game and they were lucky to get the win. He also added that it was good to start the season with a win.

The surprise game of the weekend was the narrow15-14 win Dur-Bell got over Varsity Cup Finalist UCT. The win takes Dur-Bell to the top of the log, Hamiltons are currently second with their convincing 24-6 win over Vics. SK Walmers trounced NNK 59-8. With Helderberg beating Tygerberg 37-16.

The match to look forward to this weekend is the clash between Ikeys and Hamiltons which is sure to produce entertainment.

Rossi rules Mugello!

Valentino Rossi, sporting his traditionally flamboyant helmet which marks his home-race, won at Mugello for the seventh time in a row yesterday, to extend his lead in the world champiopnship to 12 points over Dani Pedrosa.Current world champion Casey Stoner took second place with Pedrosa in third.
The win was Rossi's 3rd consecutive in the Moto GP championship this year, and apart from cementing his 'ownership' of Mugello, it also leaves the popular Italian as favourite to regain his Moto GP title this year.

So close for the Turks!

Philipp Lahm ended Turkey's incredible run at Euro 2008 by scoring a late goal to give Germany a 3-2 semifinal victory at St Jacob's Park stadium in Basel. The 2 sides traded goals, and for a while, it looked like Turkey were close to upsetting the Germans, as they were urged on by their fans, in marked contrast to the german supporters that seemed shell-shocked by what they were seeing.
A violent thunderstorm swept across Austria disrupting telecommunications during the second half, meaning Switzerland was one of the few countries in the world to witness the thrilling finale.

Currie Cup Preview

The Vodacom Blue Bulls will have a golden opportunity to make up for their surprise home loss to the Xerox Lions last Saturday when they entertain the Wildeklawer Griquas on Friday night in the weekend's only Absa Currie Cup fixture as South Africa's home leg of the 2008 Vodacom Tri-Nations gets underway.

The Bulls, who went down 27-30 to the Lions last Friday evening, are currently in fourth place on the Absa Currie Cup standings with 24 points.

They do, however, have a match in hand over all the other sides – except for Griquas, of course – and a victory of any sort on Friday, bonus point or not, will see them move back into first place on the Absa Currie Cup log; a position they last held after Week Seven in the competition.

The Bulls have been boosted in their bid for victory by the return of fit-again stars, Wayne Julies (inside centre) and Heinie Adams (scrumhalf), with the former named to start after a long-term knee injury and the lat! ter being eased back into action off the bench as he recovers from a fairly serious leg injury.

Julies will form a World Cup-winning midfield combination with Wynand Olivier who has shifted to outside centre this week, whilst Adams will hopefully get a second-half opportunity when SA Under-20 star Francois Hougaard has done his bit.

Bulls coach Frans Ludeke admitted to being very pleased with the fact that Julies and Adams were available for selection once again, "because they have been two of the Bulls' stalwarts in the past and we were eagerly waiting for them to make a full recovery".

Ludeke added: "Injuries forced us to make a few changes and now it's up to them to seize this opportunity and to make the most of it."

Whilst one World Cup winner is back in the Bulls line-up in the shape of Julies, winger Akona Ndungane has been forced out with a hip injury and Danie Rossouw is back in the Bok mix now that provincial colleague Ba! kkies Botha is out of Tri-Nations action with a knee injury.

Victory for SA Wheelchair Basketball

South Africa's Wheelchair Basketball players got their first win at the Paralympics in Beijing. They beat Sweden 64-58.

The team didn't have a great start to the competition as they they lost their opening game. The strong man of the team Nick Taylor says they were targeting a win over the Swedes as well as the next team they face Japan. He says they would like to finish in the top eight of the competition.

Ajax and Santos look to keep up league challenge

The ABSA Premiership is still wide open. Only three points separate the top six clubs and the difference between first and 13th is only 9 points.

So leading the log at this stage might not mean much if you stop winning. That's why every match is vital at this stage and will continue to be so until the end.

I'm predicting another thrilling finish to the league this season. Remember last season, Ajax missed out to Supersport! United by a single point after leading the log for so long.

Ajax are determined to set the record straight this season and are aware that their current position (joint top with Supersport on 22 points) means nothing if they don't keep winning.

Likewise Santos are expecting to move up the table like they did last year. Tonight they have a chance to do that when they host Amazulu at Athlone Stadium at 19h30.

The Urban Warriors are! away to Platinum Stars at 15h30, while Supersport face Bay Un! ited.

F1 Shareholder files for Bankruptcy

Quoted from F1 Technical

"In the midst of a financial crisis on all markets, Lehman Brothers, the fourth-largest US investment bank, has filed for bankruptcy protection, dealing a blow to the fragile global financial system. Lehman Brothers is part of the CVC group that own 16.8% of Formula One shares.

Lehman was forced into bankruptcy after Barclays Plc and Bank of America Corp. abandoned takeover talks yesterday and the company lost 94 percent of its market value this year. Today, the stock dropped a further 92%, making it virtually invaluable.Earlier on, the American government had decided to take over Fannie Mae en Freddie Mac but have opted against that option for Lehman Brothers. It still remains to be seen how the value will evolve and if whether anyone would allow the bank to go bankrupt completely. It is also not clear how such would influence F1, but it is clear that interested parties may try to take over the stock owned by the troubled bank."!

Mascherano Making Progress

Liverpool could welcome Javier Mascherano and Daniel Agger back into the fold for Sunday's eagerly anticipated encounter with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Mascherano has responded well to treatment after missing Tuesday's Champions League defeat to Fiorentina with a hamstring injury while Agger came through a reserve team game in midweek unscathed.

The Danish defender has failed to feature in the first team so far this term after picking up a back injury in pre-season.

"It felt good to be back on the pitch again," said Agger. "It's a! lways frustrating when you're out injured and can't play football, so to get back out there again was great.

"I knew in pre-season that my back wasn't right so I had to get the problem sorted. I set myself the target to be back around this time so I'm happy.

"I'll keep working hard and do everything I can to help the team and get back in the side as soon as possible."

Liverpool FC Fan Takeover Talks To Take Place In Months

A supporters' 'buy-out' plan to take over Liverpool FC today said they were hopeful of entering talks with Reds bosses within months.

Currently 16,000 people have pledged money to the ShareLFC project which was launched 18 months ago.

The scheme aims to wrestle back control of £500m-valued Liverpool from its controversial American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Today, ShareLFC said calculations had revealed cash promises could total as much as £60m.

And they are hopeful that another 4,000 people pledging money will give them enough financial muscle to start exploratory talks with Liverpool.

Initially, the plan for 100,000 fans to donate £5,000 was agreed to by around 7,000 Reds fans. But earlier this year, it was deemed too expensive and the sum was lowered to £500.

Rogan Taylor, director of the Football Industry Group at the University of Liverpool! , and who is heading the scheme, said ShareLFC could enter talks within the next two months.

But with the financial picture at Anfield constantly changing, and suggestions of new investment from Saudis, nothing is certain.

Professor Taylor told the ECHO: "This scheme is not asleep, it is wide awake. The club is well aware of where our project is at.

"The important thing is gaining credibility and confidence, and we do feel the horizons are opening up.

"I am convinced that we are getting to the point where we can put forward a real proposition.

"At that point, our numbers could probably double."

Overall, ShareLFC is looking to raise £120m equity from fans, £100m investment from a bank and another £100m from a commercial partner.

Whether the suggested £500m would have to be raised, or a lower value for Liverpool may be accepted by Hicks and Gillett, remains to be seen.

The ambitious ShareL! FC plan, which has gained interest from 211 different countrie! s, is su pported by fans union Spirit Of Shankly.

The member-share scheme is based on a continental-style model, in which fans own a huge stake in the club, similar to the way Barcelona in Spain operate.

United Fans In Mask Taunt

Manchester United fans plan to rub the Kop's noses in it even more on Sunday - and it is nothing to do with beachballs.

After a thrilling 3-3 Anfield draw in January 1994, Liverpool supporters unfurled a taunting banner which read: "Au revoir, Cantona and Man United. Come back when you've won 18."

Now, following a 15-year wait, the bitter rivals are all square in terms of titles won - and United fans are relishing the prospect of letting the home crowd know just that.

They plan to arrive at Anfield sporting masks of United legend Eric Cantona.

T-shirts have also been printed with the slogan "18 titles and that's a fact," in reference to Rafa's rant of a year ago.

Another shows former Kop idol Michael Owen celebrating a goal with the tag, "Welcome to Manchester."

Yet that doesn't mean they are ignoring the chance of smuggling in inflatables after Sunderlan! d's infamous deflected winner against the Reds last week.

Liverpool's own website sold out of the £10 towel and beachball set within a day of the Stadium of Light fiasco.

And although security chiefs will carry out their normal checks as fans enter the ground, they have admitted it is virtually impossible to detect them until they are blown up.

However, there is no truth in the joke being bandied around by United fans that the refusal to admit balloons on Sunday means Andrea Dossena has been banned from attending.

KTM has become the title sponsor for the 2005 series.

In addition to his exploits on ice, Ranger recently tested a Champ Car at Sebring, FL, KTM Canada noted in its release.

This Week in Reds Baseball- May 18th

* The Reds wrapped up their first west coast road trip of the season Sunday. They started off really strong sweeping the Arizona Diamondbacks in dominating fashion. Unfortunately the San Diego trip was another story, getting swept by the lowly Padres.

* The Reds could potentially have a very serious situation on their hands with their stud first baseman Joey Votto.
Votto left two games this road trip complaining of dizziness. "I can't focus. I get dizzy and I can't see straight," Votto stated after leaving Saturday's game. Votto did not start on Sunday. "Something has to be wrong for him not to play or come out of the game because this guy is a gamer, big time," said Reds manager Dusty Baker. "Let's just hope they find out what it is. Just because they run tests doesn't mean they'll find it."

* Micah Owings was used in Saturday's 16 inning loss in San Diego in a relief situation. This could cause issues for the Reds rotation in the coming weeks. Owings was scheduled to start Wednesday against the Phillies, but after being used for five innings in relief Saturday, it is unlikely that Owings will get the start. Too add to the! injury Volquez was pulled from his start Saturday after pitch! ing 5 2/ 3 innings with back spasms. With Owings having pitched essentially a full game on Saturday and pitcher Nick Massett more than likely heading to the DL, the Reds may have to look to Louisville for help. The most likely options? Homer Bailey, who has been spotty in his starts, or Pedro Viola who is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA.

* The Reds open up interleague play with Cleveland this weekend at Great American Ballpark. Last year the Reds were 5-1 against their upstate rivals. The Indians are currently last in their division with a record of 14-25.

Fiorentina 2-0 Sampdoria

Sampdoria were brought crashing down to earth as they lost their 100% start to the Serie A season at Fiorentina.

The Blucerchiati went into tonight's game at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on top of the Italian tree, but found themselves a goal down after 24 minutes thanks to the impressive Stevan Jovetic.

Alberto Gilardino added a deserved second for Cesare Prandelli's men after 66 minutes as they put Sunday's 3-1 defeat by Roma behind them.

Samp began with con! fidence befitting a side with four consecutive wins to their name.

Viola goalkeeper Sebastian Frey showed great reflexes to push away Antonio Cassano's volley following a third-minute corner.

At the other end, Gilardino missed a great chance for the hosts. Jovetic did well to backheel the ball to Gilardino who, alone in front of Luca Castellazzi, put the ball wide of the far post.

Fiorentina were on top now, though, and Juan Vargas sent a 19th-minute free-kick towards Jovetic, whose nice touch with his heel went just wide.

A minute later, Viola winger Marco Marchionni cut inside from the right but was halted by Daniele Mannini, who put the ball behind, and Vargas' shot from the resulting corner went wide.

But a goal seemed to be coming and it arrived after 25 minutes when Jovetic, unmarked, rose to head home Marchionni's cross from close range.

The Viola needed another fine save from Frey to keep them ahead on the half-hour mark as ! Mannini shot on target after a neat one-two with Giampaolo Paz! zini.

And Frey again denied Pazzini a minute later when he turned and shot from the edge of the box following a cross from Marco Padalino.

Castellazzi twice saved in the run-up to the interval, first keeping out Jovetic's effort after a nice move from the hosts, then repelling Marco Donadel's 35-yard effort.

Fiorentina continued to play well after the restart with Vargas and Jovetic particularly impressing.

And it was no surprise when the Peru international was involved in the second goal after 66 minutes, providing a pinpoint cross from the left for Gilardino to head home.

Castellazzi got a hand to the ball but could not keep it out.

Another cross from Vargas seven minutes later was headed wide by Marchionni, before Castellazzi kept the deficit at two when Mario Santana latched onto Fernando Tissone's deflected pass to fire on goal.

At the other end, Cassano played a nice ball over the top for Nicola Pozzi, who beat the offside trap ! but, by a whisker, was unable to connect with the ball for a tap-in.

And the Viola could have had a third in the last 10 minutes when Jovetic, Gilardino and Vargas linked up well, with the latter sending a first-time diagonal shot wide of the far post.

The result saw Samp surrender top spot by a point to Inter Milan, who beat Napoli 3-1, and also on goal difference fall behind Juventus, who travel to Genoa tomorrow.

Fiorentina's win took them fourth, two points behind their opponents.

Balestier stay top despite win

Balestier Khalsa claimed just their fourth win of the season with a 3-1 victory at Sengkang Punggol, but it was not enough to move them off the bottom of the S-League table.

Anthar Rajan opened the scoring from the spot with 11 minutes gone at Hougang Stadium and Oh In-kyun added a second two minutes after the break.

Mamadou Diallo pulled a goal back for Sengkang in the 50th minute but Oh netted his second and Balestier's third after 71 minutes to seal the points.

Balestier now trail S! engkang by three points.

Aston Villa 2 Chelsea 1

The Premier League game between Aston Villa and Chelsea at Villa Park on Saturday Oct 17, 2009.

Another mistake by Petr Cech led to Chelsea slipping to a second Premier League defeat of the season – and the second in a row away from Stamford Bridge – with Aston Villa coming from behind to claim victory through two headed goals.

Both came from ! their central defenders – Richard Dunne with the first and James Collins with the second – and both from set-pieces. While Frank Lampard inadvertently flicked on Ashley Young's corner, directing it straight to Dunne who headed in from four yards, Cech flapped at another corner in the second-half to allow Collins to also head home. Cech had erred recently against Stoke City, again mis-judging a cross.

On both occasions the Villa goal-scorers had evaded their markers with Chelsea's defence showing a worrying fraility – similar to the frailties that had afflicted them last season under Luiz Felipe Scolari.

It was at Villa Park that Guus Hiddink had re-focussed Chelsea last season but although they played the more attractive football, they deservedly slumped to a defeat that, although it leaves them still at the top of the table, means they could be overtaken by Manchester United later this afternoon. Vi! lla, meanwhile, move up to fifth place.

For both sid! es the l ine-ups were unaltered from their last league matches before the international break – except for the return of Jose Bosingwa, fit again, to the Chelsea defence although he was later replaced by Branislav Ivanovic, hobbling off injured. The whole Chelsea team had featured in midweek internationals and did appear affected by fatigue.

They could have fallen behind when Bosingwa appeared to catch Gabriel Agbonlahor as he shaped to shoot but the appeals were waved away by referee Kevin Friend, a late replacement for Steve Bennett after the official had felt unwell prior to kick-off which meant the start of the game was delayed by five minutes.

Soon after the penalty appeal, Chelsea scored with Didier Drogba superbly turning Collins and striking a shot from 30 yards that kicked up horribly in front of Brad Friedel and spun into the net. It was Drogba's seventh league goal of the season. Undoubtedly the goalkeeper was culpable a! lthough he also went on to make fine saves from Deco and Nicolas Anelka – denying both players in one-on-one opportunities – and beating out a powerful drive by Florent Malouda. Friedel also clawed out a wonderful chip by Deco, just as it had appeared to have looped over him as Villa held on for a landmark win.

Jean Todt wins FIA presidential election

Jean Todt has been elected president of motor racing's governing body FIA, beating Finnish candidate Ari Vatanen in today's vote.

Todt was the favourite to win after getting backing from outgoing FIA president Max Mosley and F1 rights owner Bernie Ecclestone.

"Jean Todt has been elected president of the FIA for a four-year term by the FIA General Assembly at its annual meeting in Paris," an FIA statement said.

Officials said Todt had won 135 votes to Vatanen's 49, with 12 abstentions.

"It's positive, very positive," sev! en-times F1 champion Michael Schumacher said after the news was announced.

Todt is a former Ferrari team principal who revived the fortunes of the flagging Italian team and led it during Schumacher's era. He also worked on FIA's World Motor Sport Council.

He will be charged with restoring stability to a body that has been rocked by a number of scandals in F1 - not least the controversy surrounding the build up to today's announcement.

Last month Mosley sent a letter to HRH Prince Feisal of Jordan, one of Vatanen's nominations as vice-president, alleging that Vatanen's campaign had been "marked by untruthful claims" and stating bluntly that the Finn "would lose the election and lose badly".

The letter prompted concerns that the election may not be entirely transparent, a concern reinforced when, in emails leaked to The Daily Telegraph last week, it emerged that influential figures within the FIA ! and FIA Foundation were also advising and lobbying on behalf o! f Todt.

Kohlschreiber upset by wild-card

Marco Chiudinelli upset German eighth seed Philipp Kohlschreiber to reach the second round of his hometown event in Basle.

The world number 73 came out on top after a two-hour, 15-minute tussle on Centre Court at the Davidoff Swiss Indoors, to set up a clash with compatriot Michael Lammer.

The first set saw the players pass up seven break points between them before Chiudinelli prevailed 7-5 in a tie-break.

Kohlschreiber levelled but a decisive late break saw! the underdog complete a 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 7-5 victory.

Lammer, meanwhile, battled past Austria's Daniel Koellerer, winning 3-6 6-2 7-5.

Second seed Novak Djokovic made easy progress, beating another German, Andreas Beck, 6-3 7-5.

The Serbian served 10 aces and broke serve three times in the one-hour, 27-minute clash and will next face Czech Jan Hernych, a 6-3 6-4 victor over Australia's Peter Luczak.

Finn Jarkko Nieminen overcame a 74-place gap in the world rankings to rout Julian Benneteau 7-5 6-2, his second win in as many meetings with the Frenchman.

Serbia's Viktor Troicki came through 6-2 7-6 (7/5) against Benjamin Becker as the German contingent in action today all crashed out, and Russia's Evgeny Korolev came from behind to beat Simone Bolelli of Italy 3-6 7-6 (7/4) 6-2.

Harry Redknapp chiude il caso Muntari: "Mai chiesto a Mourinho"

di Marco Spinelli
fonte: fcinternews.it

E a lungo in!

No, proprio no, io non l'ho mai chiesto. Certo, Sulley mi piace come giocatore, è un top player ma non ho parlato con José Mourinho di lui", le parole del manager del club londinese, che di fatto rendono più salda la posizione di Muntari all'interno della squadra nerazzurra.

«Contro la Lazio senza voglia di rivalsa»

di Rocco Fortunato
fonte:ilsecoloXIX.it
